African American Alumni Research Project by Kiri Harris, sixth grade teacher For African American former students who entered Greene Street in Middle School and their parents/guardians Project Description: For my graduate school research project this spring, I’m asking this question: "How are African American students who are new to our Middle School experiencing Quaker school culture?" My hope is that by listening directly to people’s experiences, I can learn what types of problems exist, what is going well, and what we need to know in order to do our jobs better. For the research, I’ll be interviewing African American alumni and alumni parents who came to GSFS new in their Middle School years. If you are in this group but haven't heard from me, please send me an email at: kharris@greenestreetfriends.org. I genuinely look forward to learning more about the direct and indirect ways Quaker school culture is communicated to and experienced by African American students and their families.
