Sylvie Abaidoo is a new member to the Greene Street Friends School community. She comes to Greene Street with 8.5 years experience from the Knox School, a private boarding and day school in Saint James, New York, teaching mathematics in both middle and upper schools, mentoring new faculty, directing the diversity program and working in the Admission Office. She joined Greene Street in the fall of 2016 as the new 7th and 8th grade math teacher

Sylvie holds an undergraduate degree from SUNY Old Westbury in Mathematics and a Master of Science degree from Dowling College in Adolescent Education with Middle Childhood Extension. 

Sylvie was born and raised in New York to Haitian parents who believe education is key. She is new to
Philadelphia, which is close to home for her husband Essandoh and his family, who live in South Jersey and Philly. Sylvie and Essandoh, have two children, Essandoh (2) and Léa (7 months). Sylvie enjoys singing and trying new foods, and she and her husband look forward to reconnecting with family and forming relationships with new friends.
