Rising Stars

Rising Stars, formerly EDP, at Greene Street Friends School provides a safe and secure environment filled with various further learning opportunities beyond the school day. Students participate in creative and engaging programming which include Move It, a daily physical component, Enrichment, an academic and arts based program with courses ranging from cooking, sewing, and sculpture to foreign language, weird science and puppetry as well as Wind Down, a period of quiet activities and homework.

Pre K and Kindergarten students have a separate area and scaled down Move It and Enrichment schedules that provides more of an opportunity for the younger students to unwind while sharing the same overall experience before rejoining the older students for Wind Down. 

All activities take place in a space that is organized, inviting, and promotes multi-grade connections among our students. Activities are based on an overall theme that changes every four to six weeks. In addition, Rising Stars also offers homework time with a quiet, supervised area.

Sample Schedule

3:00 –3:15  Snack

3:15—4:00  Move It! alternating physical classes including, yoga, dance etc.)

4:00—5:00  Enrichment

5:00—5:15  Snack

5:15—6:00  Wind Down (Homework/Quiet Activities)
