Technology

Technology can be a useful tool for enhancing the learning that takes place in the classrooms, and tech lessons are designed with the classroom curriculum in mind. Students studying Lenape Indians in their third grade classroom conduct research into the Lenape in the computer lab and report back to their classmates what they learned. First graders studying the weather in their classroom and in science class write a story about their favorite type of weather, through which they learn important word processing skills. Pre-Kindergarten students learning the colors of the rainbow create their own rainbows using an art program.

Students use technology to investigate their interests, further their research, and create works of art. The appropriate use of technology can stimulate thinking, increase student motivation and success, and facilitate both teaching and learning. In order to prepare our children for a future in a world in which borders continue to melt away as technology expands its reach, it is critical that technology play a role in the education of our children and that we as teachers stay abreast of the developments in the ways in which technology is used to facilitate teaching and learning.
