Elwyn ServicesGreene Street receives support services for our children through a state-funded program titled Act 89. These services are provided through Elwyn’s Nonpublic School Program. Elwyn has been serving Archdiocesan and independent schools for over thirty years providing counseling and guidance, speech, vision, psychological, and educational services to children throughout the Philadelphia area. Elwyn staff can provide educational screenings, class-wide or small group guidance (for example, Getting Along With Others, Study Skills), as well as small group instruction for students who may need additional support in Math, Reading and Speech. In addition, Elwyn staff members are available to provide small group and individual counseling and psycho-educational evaluations of students that identify specific strengths and weaknesses. In the 2007-2008 academic year, Greene Street Friends School will have a school counselor, a psychologist, and a speech pathologist for one full day per week, and a reading and math tutor for two half days per week through Elwyn’s Non-Public School Program. All services are free and require signed permission slips from parents. Requests for services can be made by teachers, members of the learning support team, and/or parents. Katie Portela, our Learning Specialist, oversees Elwyn communications and services for our school. |
