Costa Rica Trip
Robin & Jason - being away from home is ok. As he and Jason were looking out the bus windows while traveling from the airport to the retreat center, they shouted out the windows "PURA VIDA!" which means "pure life." Kennedy - thought the Spanish class that Sandra arranged was a lot of fun. "Pretty cool," she remarked. She felt it was very different from Spanish class at GSFS. Evan - taking a cold shower is pretty ok. 30 seconds is the limit - LOL! He says his next one will be 5 minutes. Sophie W & Megan - they were trying to skip the cold showers this morning, but Maestra Sandra convinced them to give it try. They found it to be amazingly cold! Karin - Costa Rica is alot greener than she had imagined. She appreciates the natural beauty. Alex - confident and seems to be at ease. He is ready to explore and said that his highlight of 3/17 was riding from San Jose to Sarchi. He is observing life in a different place and loves the warm weather. Ray - is excited about his first trip out of the country. Slept through both legs of the plane ride. Enjoying the food also. Enjoying time with penpal. Hannah - very excited to meet her pen pal. She thinks that Costa Rica is amazing. Peter - comfortable being away from home. Taking in the experience and excited about meeting his pen pal in person. James - enthusiastic about the trip overall - participating in all activities - eager to meet his penpal. Sophie B -traveled with ease. Embracing everyone with her warm personality. Getting along well with her penpal also. Shania - all smiles throughout transit. She has been flexible and helpful. Sandra remarked that she was her personal highlight for the day. Naeem - one of the first in the class to jump in the community pool at Sarchi. Nae is aware of his new surroundings and seems comfortable in this new place. He is also eating a lot. Michael - promptly made a huge splash at the pool in Sarchi yesterday. He forgot to remove his glasses, but had just as much fun retrieving them from the bottom of the pool. Lily - always a positive force in the 7th grade class. She enjoyed swimming. She was helpful in initiating the mixing up of the seating that takes place. Sarah - greeted her penpal with a hug, a smile, and a traditional kiss on the cheek. Sarah seems confident with her Spanish and was walking and chatting away with her penpal. David - can be found at the ping pong table. He is enjoying the freedom and warmth of Costa Rica. Ethan - braved the cold shower this morning and was a better man for it. His Phillies hat is a hit with his new "tico" friends. Tre - feels at ease in a foreign country. Enjoying time with his class mates. The experience so far has been great.
