5K Students Present on Egyptian History

When fifth grade teacher Kate Zook-Gibbs prepared to teach her students about Ancient Egypt, she thought it would be a nice change of pace if she "chopped up the lessons so that students researched and taught each other." Kate provided a list of topics from the Sphinx and the pyramids to King Tut and Cleopatra. After choosing their topics, students went through the following process:

- Researching their topic
- Organizing their research into specific categories
- Synthesizing their ideas
- Writing a paper

- Writing a proposal for their presentation
- Conduction an interactive presentation for their classmates and families

To make the presentations interactive and fun, students infused in creativity and games. Some prepared trivia questions and asked everyone in the room to share one thing they learned. One student created a Jeopardy board - complete with prizes for the wining team!
