Greening the Street

Thanks to the efforts of parent Margaret Funderburg, the Class of 2010 is leaving a green legacy. Last year she wrote a Tree Vitalize grant request on behalf of the School. This year Pennsylvania Horticultural Society approved the addition of five street trees along School House lane, adjacent to the bank property, and prepared new sidewalk cutouts for them. Members of the Class of 2010 and their parents spent an afternoon digging the pits and planting the bare root trees, a mixture of hackberry and maple trees. Former parent Mindy Maslin, a PHS staff member, provided instruction on proper planting and placement. One tree was reserved for planting on Alumni Day. The Class is excited to help bring shade and beauty to the neighborhood.
