GSFS Community Gathers to Say Farewell to Graduates

On Thursday morning, students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 gathered in the Meetinghouse for a final assembly dedicated to the Class of 2016.

Faculty members presented awards to the graduates based on their strengths as students, leaders, artists, and community members. Additionally, Middle School students received awards for participation in sports, yearbook, TORCH, and WINGS. The Spirit of Greene Street award was presented to True.

Spanish teacher and Director of the Costa Rica Exchange Program at GSFS Sandra spoke about the Class of 2016 and bestowed advice to them. "I want you to put your dreams and wishes into the world and be surprised by how many people want to support you," she said. She spoke on the importance of resilience and perseverance in their lives. "Spend time with people who are different and who think differently than you, like you learned here."

Zivia and Ryley presented their class gift to the School: equipment to fix up the Tree Lab so that more students can use the space in the future.

As the 8th grade students left, the 7th grade filled their seats in the front of the Meetinghouse, a symbol of the closing of this year and the transition into a new one.
