Giving at Greene StreetAt Greene Street Friends School, our Mission Drives our Finances We seek to provide a high quality education to students from a broad range of economic backbrounds. As is true at many schools, tuition and fees are our major revenue sources for our operating budget. Auxiliary income sources include annual support from Green Street Monthly Meeting, and interest income. Gifts to Greene Street Friends School help us to fully realize our mission. Annual Giving supplements directly supports our day-to-day operations by providing unrestricted financial support. Special event proceeds, capital gifts, and grants provide restricted funding. That is, they are spent on a specific program or project – not on day-to-day operating expenses. Restricted gifts have paid for such projects as air conditioning the Lower School, automating our library, and renovating school buildings. Our modest endowment fund acts as the school’s savings plan, providing long-term income from interest. Endowment principal is never spent – only the interest. |
