Room ParentsRoom parents are the leaders of their child’s class and a critical part of the PA Organizing Team. The primary role of the Room Parents is to build relationships with and among the families in their child’s class. The Room Parents – hopefully 2 or 3 per class - will coordinate at least two class specific events – the fall class potluck and one other class get-together during the year. In addition, Room Parents will be active in at least one Ad Hoc Team, invite other parents to participate and volunteer in Parent Association activities, coordinate with and support teachers in class projects and other ways that involve parents, and communicate regularly with all the families in the class they represent. Just Do It, Do It Early, Keep it Simple! People appreciate the chance to get together, parents and kids Date: Class vote or host's choice, September, October or early November work best. Where: If no one volunteers to host it at their house, consider parks. Venues to try include: • Allen's Lane playground • Walnut Lane/ Rittenhouse Town • Fairmount Park check possible locations Time: Anytime, consider lunch, dinner or midway in between Food: Organized sign-up in classroom or potluck. Tip: Be sure to ask a couple people to bring paper goods, garbage bags, and a few drinks Invitations: Send the details home via e-mail and/or classroom backpack mail. |
