Arelis Hamilton (Librarian)

middle school

Arelis Hamilton is excited to be in her new role as our librarian this year! Before transitioning into this new role Arelis was a lead teacher in the 3rd grade, and before that she worked as a teacher for Horizons at Greene Street, and a teaching associate in 5th grade.

Before coming to GSFS, Arelis worked for the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania for several years before heading Stephen Girard Elementary School’s library program. There she focused on introducing students to a broader range of diverse literature, a passion she will certainly bring to her library here at GSFS.

In addition, Arelis served at the Cooperative Nursery School as the admissions coordinator in 2016 and Chair of the Diversity Committee from 2017-2018. In 2006, she earned a Liberal Arts Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University. Arelis lives with her husband and two children in Germantown and is an avid reader.
