Elise D'Avella (7/8 Arts Elective Teacher & Advisor)

middle school

Elise was first introduced to theatre in a middle school English language arts classroom. Theatre gave Elise a much needed outlet to communicate and connect with others and since that moment she has never looked back. She began teaching theatre after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011 and believes wholeheartedly in the value of theatre in the classroom as a tool to imagine a better world, embrace individuality, and inspire empathy. Since then she has received an MA in Theatre from Villanova University and teaches for the Arden for All and History Hunters programs. She is also an active member of the Philadelphia Theatre community, working as a freelance director most recently for Simpatico Theatre, Berserker Theatre Company, and the Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival. She is very grateful to Greene Street Friends for this opportunity to share her passion for storytelling with the students. Outside of school, Elise loves baking, historical hand sewing, and exploring new places.
