Malia Gilbert


Malia Gilbert is a fundraising professional with over a decade of experience in institutional advancement and events. Her work has focused on education equity, social-emotional learning, out-of-school-time initiatives, career pathways for youth, and community development.

Malia is currently the Executive Director of Horizons at Greene Street School. In this role, she serves as the administrator for Horizons, a 6-week summer enrichment program serving 120 Germantown students and their families. Malia studied Communications with a minor in Community Service Studies at DePaul University where she received B.A. prior to pursuing an MPA at University of Delaware, where her focus was Nonprofit Leadership. She will start the Education, Culture and Society program at University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2021, where she intends to study the role of education systems in perpetuating rape culture among BIPOC women. 

Malia loves to bake and sing in her spare time, and is currently working on children's music to encourage and inspire children of color. A nearly life-long resident of Germantown, she now resides in Mt. Airy with her dynamic three-year old.
