Middle School Trips: The Big Apple and Our Nation's Capital

Last week, 5th and 6th graders, along with their amazing teachers and a few parent chaperones, boarded buses to head north on I-95 on their way to New York City.

"We take students on trips to learn about the world, each other, and themselves," explains 5th grade lead teacher Beth Duffy. The 5th and 6th graders spent two days and one night in the Big Apple, with a packed itinerary including visits to the American Museum of Natural History and the Bronx Zoo. "All of the topics we studied in science and social studies this year are represented there," Beth adds.

The favorite activity in New York? Probably seeing the Broadway hit musical Matilda.

Similarly, the 8th graders left school and headed south to Washington, DC. Marty Foley, who teaches 8th grade language arts and social studies said, "The trip is a combination of fun, learning, class bonding, and lots of walking." They visited several Smithsonian museums and went on a sunset monument tour. "Students enjoyed traveling with each other."
