lower school

Courtney (she/her) is excited to join Greene Street Friends School as a lead teacher in Pre-Kindergarten.
She earned her BA in Philosophy and Religion from the University of California Santa Cruz, and her MA
in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico. She also holds a Montessori Primary
teaching certificate from the Association Montessori Internationale and is an Orton Gillingham certified
dyslexia tutor.
Before coming to GSFS, Courtney held many different positions in the field of education: lead classroom
teacher, school administrator, parent educator, curriculum developer, literacy tutor, advisory board
member and volunteer. Through her 28 years of practice, she has developed a passion for helping
students find joy in learning, a sense of belonging in community and confidence expressing their authentic
selves.
Courtney lives in East Mt. Airy with her husband Jeff, dog Willie and cat Zia. Her two children Elijah (‘23)
and Josephine (‘26) are currently pursuing higher education and adventure on the west coast. Courtney’s
favorite ways to spend time with family and friends are camping, hiking, cooking and baking. When it’s
time to unwind and slow down, she enjoys taking her dog on long walks, quilting and has recently
discovered Tai Chi.
