Middle School
At Greene Street Friends, Middle School includes students in grades five through eight. We understand the lightning fast changes that occur during these years and design our program to meet the needs of our students. We seek to nurture teacher and student relationships based on the common goal of learning and growth, and our faculty and staff understand that cultivating a sense of connection and belonging with and among our students is a critical step in enabling our students to grow cognitively, socially, and emotionally.

During the course of middle school, we purposely increase the academic, social, organizational, and leadership responsibilities of our students in order to graduate independent, thoughtful, and confident 8th graders, who are ready for the challenges and opportunities of high school. Our middle schoolers experience a rigorous academic program; athletics and arts programs that focus on participation and growth; transformative and affective education program called Life Skills; and Quaker values and practices. We also provide significant opportunities for leadership within our student government, as well as advisory, partners, and community service programs.

We are very proud that our school fosters cultural competence in intentional ways through lessons and experiences, and our middle school students learn that our differences make us stronger. At Greene Street, we nurture an environment where difference in race, gender, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic level, sexual orientation, family structure, and more is accepted and celebrated.
