High School Placement
As part of our respect for each student, we work with students and their parents or guardians to find schools that match their unique set of interests and abilities. Leanne Clancy, Director of Admission, advises families regarding high school placement. During her 11 years in admissions at the University of Pennsylvania and Bryn Mawr College, Leanne visited high schools throughout the country and brings this first-hand knowledge of schools, financial aid and the admission process to her work at Greene Street. “How fun to work with kids at age four when they first arrive at Greene Street, and then again when they are getting ready to graduate!” Leanne says. “Being a part of a young person's growth is very exciting.”
In seventh grade, we begin to share with families the range of high school options. We provide guidance in completing applications, test-taking skills in preparation for placement tests and practice in conducting successful admission interviews. We keep families abreast of admission deadlines, tests and requirements. Representatives from a wide range of schools including boarding schools, private schools in the greater Philadelphia area, public magnet schools and charter schools, visit our campus. In addition, we host recent graduates who return to speak with our eighth graders about what high school is like academically and socially. We are proud that our graduates go on to their top-choice schools, including selective public magnet high schools, Quaker independent schools, as well as other public, private and parochial schools.
