When should I begin the admission process?
Most families begin the admission process the fall before the enrollment year. To get started, fill out an inquiry form and consider registering for an upcoming Open House event.
The application for admission is due by January 15, but we encourage you to apply by late fall in order to complete all steps of the process in a timely way. The priority deadline for admission is December 15.What grade is the best grade to apply for?
We welcome applications at every grade level. However, the largest number of openings occur at preschool, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and grade 5.What will my child’s visit be like?

- Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten: observation of play, story time, and conversation with peers and teachers
- Kindergarten: observation of play, conversation with peers and teachers, and kindergarten readiness assessment
- Grades 1-4: classroom activities, recess and lunch, conversation with peers and teachers/staff, reading and math assessment
- Grades 5-8: classroom activities, recess and lunch, conversation with peers and teachers/staff, reading and writing assessment, math assessment
What will the parent/CAREGIVER interview be like?Parents and caregivers meet with members of the admission team for about half an hour. During this time, we hope to gain an understanding of what you are seeking in a school, what strengths your child possesses as a learner and a community member, and any challenges your child may be facing. We will also share information about the Greene Street Friends program and community, with the goal of answering any questions you may have. We look forward to getting to know your family!
When will I know if my child has been admitted?
- Priority Admission Timeline: Students who have completed their application by December 15 will be notified of their admission decision by January 15.
- Standard Admissions Timeline: Students who have completed their application by January 15 will be notified of their admission decision by February 15.
when should i apply for financial aid?
Families seeking financial aid should complete the Clarity application along with the gsfs APPLICATION. To receive full consideration for financial aid, the application must be complete by December 15 for both priority and standard admission processes. Award decisions are offered along with your admission decision.
Please note, in the case of two households, both parents/guardians must submit the Clarity application in order for a financial aid decision to be reached.
