4th Grade Presents at the 36th Annual Mold Symposium

The fourth grade attended the 36th Annual Mold Symposium this week. Each student shared their findings from experiments they designed at school.

Science teacher Kim instructed the students to come up with a hypothesis and test one variable, such as temperature, light, or texture. Over the course of three weeks, students created their hypothesis, conducted their experiments, wrote lab reports, and created posters displaying their process and results.

Students also learned that following the right procedure matters even more than getting the expected results. “We really used the scientific method,” Kim notes, “including asking a question, developing a hypothesis, designing an experiment, drawing conclusions and communicating our results.”

Fun fact: Head of School Ed Marshall helped establish the event back in 1979!
