6th Grade Visits PEEC

The Class of 2017 spent three days and two nights learning and exploring outside the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) from Tuesday until Thursday. The students spent three days and two nights learning and exploring outside.
Highlights of the trip included a night hike, waking up early to see a lunar eclipse, frog catching, tracking animals in the wild, and performing skits and singing songs around the campfire.
The students also went canoeing, did low ropes course activities, had an astronomy lesson, reassembled a bear skeleton inside of PEEC's facilities, and learned camping basics like how to build a fire and pitch tents.

The 6th grade teachers noted how valuable it was for students in an urban school to spend time in nature. 6th grade student Lila echoed that sentiment as she gushed about the 3.5 mile hike that ended at a waterfall. "I've never seen such natural beauty before."
