7th Grade Puts Physics Lessons to the Test During Annual Egg Drop

On Friday, the 7th grade took part in a time-honored tradition at Greene Street Friends School: the egg drop. Students were split into groups of two or three to create a device to safely guide a raw egg from the top of the Armat Street Building to the ground.

This year's class had an additional challenge: not only did their eggs need to land safely on the ground, but they also had to be visible from inside their contraption.

In addition to having a lot of fun, science teacher Josh tied the activity into lessons on physics. The timing of the egg drop was moved to this week so that grandparents and mentors could also witness the event, as well as students from PreK to Grade 8 who chanted "drop the egg!" as science teacher Josh Goodstein launched the devices from the roof of the Armat Street Building.
