Please join us in congratulating the Class of 2014 and welcoming them to the Greene Street Friends School Alumni Association! On Friday, the twenty-one members of the Class of 2014 celebrated their many accomplishments at Greene Street Friends in an afternoon ceremony.
Following GSFS tradition, each graduate entered the Green Street Monthly Meetinghouse accompanied by a 7th grade student. They were welcomed by Sharon Mullally, Clerk of the School Committe, and Head of School Ed Marshall.
Each student was given the opportunity speak, reflecting on their time at Greene Street Friends and looking forward towards high school. Many thanked their friends, family, and teachers for the lessons learned and values imparted over the years.
Said Grace, "I would like to thank Greene Street, for a little school making big people. Greene Street kids are not like other kids. They are kind, courteous, unique, special and curious."
"Greene Street has taught me so much, not just academically, but also about myself, others, and the world...Greene Street taught me how to be a better student and person. As a student, it gave me a love for learning and taught me how to ask questions and work towards my goals. As a person, Greene Street taught me how to be a good friend and how to build relationships with others," noted Henry.
Todd Bernstein, GSFS Class of 1969 and founder of the annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, gave the induction into the Greene Street Alumni Association. He listed the values that he associates with a Greene Street education - both from his experiences forty-five years ago and today - including integrity, diversity, kindness, tolerance, and respect.
Each graduate received a certificate of recognition from the 8th grade advisors, highlighting each person's academic, artistic, athletic, and leadership skills as well as their diploma and a gift presented by Meeting member Neal Fordham on behalf of the Green Street Monthly Meeting.
Congratulations again to the Class of 2014 and we wish you the best of luck in high school!
