Shavonne Munir (Movement and Dance Teacher, Pre-K, K, 7th & 8th)

middle school

Shavonne (she/her), an East Mt. Airy resident, is a Kinesiology (sports medicine) graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, with a minor in dance. Continuing her love for education, she pursued and completed her masters degree in holistic medicine from Union Institute and University. She has been dancing for over 30 years in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and African dance. Receiving most formal training at the New Freedom Theatre, she has traveled locally, nationally and internationally through dance and fitness opportunities. She has trained and performed with Dance Theatre of Harlem, Eleone Dance Theatre, Kariamu & Company and Grace Dance Theatre, to which she is a current member. Shavonne is the Fitness and Recreation Manager at the Salvation Army Kroc Center of Philadelphia. Being an established dance teacher and fitness specialist around the city of Philadelphia, she loves nothing more than combining her love for dance, fitness and children into an educational and active forum. Her latest accomplishment is the publication of her first children's fitness book. As a current Greene Street Friends School parent, (Kha'ori Munir, 2nd grade), she is thrilled to be a part of the teaching staff, and bring her talents to the team, by way of laughs, dance moves and wiggles. Cheers to a great year!
