Lower School Students Celebrate the Power of their Voices

Lower School students took turns throughout the school year serving as class representatives to the Lower School Town Meetings. They discussed many items, including what it means to be part of a community, activities for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4, and plans for next year's Town Meetings.

One idea that came up was to have an ice cream party for all Lower School students. Kiri and Roe, faculty members who facilitate the Lower School Town Meetings, felt it was important for students' voices to be heard. On Wednesday afternoon, everyone gathered together on the playground for ice cream and fun!

Before eating, Kiri thanked students for their participation and for sharing their ideas and opinions. "This idea of having some ice cream together as a community came from a Town Meeting. We are following through on that idea to show you that voices can make a difference. When you use your voice, you impact the world," she shared. "As the Lorax says: it's not about what it is, it's about what it can become."
