6th Grade Students Channel Their Favorite Authors

On Thursday, the 5th and 6th grade were honored to hear from Roald Dahl, Lois Lowry, Harper Lee, and Mark Twain...or at least their classmates in costume as these famous authors.

Using a list provided by teachers Becky and Laura, 6th grade students chose an author to research for a 3-4 page paper and 2 minute oral presentation. They shared important information about their subject, including family, education, inspirations, favorite books, famous quotes, and hobbies.

The 5th grade quietly listened and asked questions (a popular one was wondering whether each presenter was still alive). Becky noted that it's important for the 5th grade to attend so they can see what's to come next year. Her own students vividly remember watching last year's 6th grade present and were excited that it was their turn.

Each 6th grade student also brought a treat that their author loved or originates from the author's hometown to enjoy.
