middle school

Delaina Cobbs (she/her) is excited to join the Greene Street Friends school this year as a 6th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology from The Ohio State University and a Master of Education from Chestnut Hill College. Delaina began her teaching career as a special education ELA instructor at Mastery Charter School's Shoemaker campus in West Philadelphia. Since then, she has taught ELA and cultural studies in various configurations throughout her teaching career, amassing more than a decade of experience teaching middle schoolers in public, private, and charter settings across many Philadelphia neighborhoods.

Delaina is passionate about empowerment through literacy and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment. In the past she has facilitated affinity groups and led DEIB workshops for both students and her educator peers. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Delaina believes in serving the community. Her volunteer work history includes mentoring in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program and building literacy engagement through Nationwide Children's Hospital of Ohio.

In her spare time, she loves collecting artwork, visiting museums and botanical gardens, and being a plant mom. She most enjoys spending quality time with her seven-year-old son, who will be joining Greene Street in the fall.
