John Deininger (Science Teacher, 3rd-8th)

middle school

John (he/him) is a native Philadelphian with an innate and insatiable sense of curiosity. After graduating from Temple University in 1994, he has taught science and art in the Philadelphia area and beyond for over 25 years. With The Franklin Institute, he spent two decades as an outreach educator traveling to schools across the northeast teaching science, inspiring curiosity, and sharing his passion for learning with countless students across 7 states. Science is an inquiry based process and John loves that it allows students to ask questions, seek answers, and make connections on their own. Because of this, his classroom is often active and energetic with a focus on hands-on exploration, collaboration, and the joy of discovery. Outside of the classroom, John loves to read, make music, and tend to his numerous experimental “projects” at home.
