Monica Quarrie (Executive Director of HORIZONS)

Monica Quarrie (she/her) is the Executive Director of Horizons Greene Street Friends School. She is an experienced professional in both the nonprofit and education sector. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri she moved to the Philadelphia area to attend Villanova University for her undergraduate degree. Upon completion, she moved to New York City where she did a year of service with AmeriCorps and subsequently taught in an elementary school in Brooklyn. During her time as a teacher she also earned her Master’s Degree in Education. 

When she and her husband returned to the Philadelphia area she assumed the role of an Advancement Director at a school in Montgomery County, PA. While there she focused on fundraising, grant writing, and community outreach. She will soon complete her Elementary Principal Certification from Immaculata University. 

Monica resides in the Germantown area with her husband, newborn son, and two dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family, baking, and is an avid runner. She can speak conversational Spanish as her family is from Panama, and she has traveled and visited family in Spanish speaking countries. She is excited to utilize her background and work in the same community in which she lives, and assist in Horizons’ continued success.
