Tricia Ebarvia (Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion)

Tricia (she/her) brings 20 years of classroom instructional experience and equity work with her to Greene Street Friends as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. A former high school English teacher, Tricia believes deeply in the power of literacy as a path to liberation. In her role as DDEI, Tricia seeks to connect justice and equity work across the school community, listen with intention, and advocate for all students and staff for a more equitable and affirming school experience.


Tricia is also a nationally recognized DEI and literacy leader, as well as published author. She is the co-founder of the Institute for Racial Equity in Literacy, which brings together educators from across the country to examine individual and systemic practices through an equity lens. In 2018, she also co-founded #DisruptTexts, a grassroots effort to challenge the traditional canon in order to reimagine and build a curriculum that is inclusive of all human experiences. She is the author of Get Free: Antibias Literacy Instruction for Stronger Readers, Writers, and Thinkers

Outside of school, Tricia and her husband raise three children. As a family, they enjoy traveling, playing board games, watching movies, and all things superhero and Star Wars related.
