Westy Higgins (she/her) is the Learning Specialist in grades Pre-K to 5. She started her teaching career as a first grade teacher in Alexandria, Virginia and then moved to San Francisco, California where she taught fourth grade for four years. Realizing that she wanted to focus her attention on how to best support students with learning differences, she went back to school to get her Educational Therapy degree. This led her to be a learning specialist in an elementary school for three years before joining the GSFS community. Westy believes in the importance of providing each child with an environment where they feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated.
