Becky's 6th grade class had a fabulous two hours at Cradles to Crayons doing service work on Thursday. After learning more about the individualized, personal packs that they make and distribute to children in need, the students sorted and scrubbed shoe donations. They learned that Cradles to Crayons believes that "quality = dignity" and that all of their donations must be in excellent, near new condition. That said, 6B spent an hour and a half cleaning shoes with toothbrushes.
Additionally, 6B made cards for children for their back to school packs that will contain necessary school supplies. It was an all around wonderful experience for the students to be involved in such a hands on way. Endless thanks to Cradles to Crayons for the work they do and for allowing us to be a part of it - also to all of the members of the GSFS community who donated items to the community-wide clothing and toy drive!
