7th Grade Students Race Their Self-Propelled Vehicles

Seventh grade students spend the fall learning about physics. To bring to life concepts such as mass, velocity, and acceleration, they designed self-propelled vehicles this week. Working in pairs, students created their devices using balloons, CDs, straws, hot glue, tape, or other items.

On Friday morning they raced their vehicles on the basketball court and the lobby of the Armat Street Building. Some vehicles traveled all the way from the front doorway to the music classroom!

Students agreed this was a fun way to put to use concepts they learn in the classroom, bringing to life the key principles of physics inside - and outside! - of the classroom.
