First Lower School Town Meeting of the School Year

This Wednesday was the first gathering of students leaders for both the Lower School Town Meeting and a Middle School TORCH meeting.
The Lower School Town Meeting - led by 4th grader clerks Grace and Oliver - focused on this year's all-school theme, community. In addition to the clerks and clerks-in-training, there were two representatives present from each class in Kindergarten through 4th grade.

The clerks asked the representatives discussion questions from "What does community mean to you" to "How can our community be even more welcoming to people who are new?" 2nd grade student Ave Rose said, "Community means including people. A community can be with anyone" while 1st grader Quincy added that community is based on "people being kind and helping people." Students listed the communities that they are part of, including GSFS, the Lower School, family, baseball team, dance group, and religious group.

The clerks listened, summarized, and kept the discussion on track during the meeting. They will work with Middle School Dean of Students Kiri to create a poster encompassing the main ideas that will be posted around campus.
