Pre-K Signs the Language of Love

In addition to learning sign language (along with Spanish) from Maestra Sandra, Kathie's Pre-Kindergarten class welcomes two teachers from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf on Friday mornings. This Friday, they built on their vocabulary by focusing on the upcoming holidays of Valentines and Presidents Days. They learned how to say love, heart, flowers, candy, president, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln.

Mark from PSD shared an interesting fact about President Lincoln's memorial in Washington DC: his hands are posed in the sign language letters of A and L. Students were very exciting about this information and practiced the letters in their seats.

Since students are learning about fruits, they asked how to sign some of their favorites, including apple, watermelon, and pineapple. There was also time to ask about random words, including dolphin (the letter D jumping up and down like the animal does in the water), vest, and cow.
