Sixth Grade Welcomes Speaker from Ghana

The sixth grade recently began a Social Studies unit on Africa. They were thrilled to welcome to their classrooms on Thursday, Joseph Duku, to learn more.

Joseph was born in Maryland and moved to Ghana at age 2. He currently is a senior at Philadelphia University and his parents are still in Ghana, where his father works for the government in economic development.  Joseph is majoring in construction management. He is also the founder of Number One Fan Group, which benefits children in Ghana.

Joseph answered the students' questions and spoke about his life and experiences growing up in Ghana, including the juxtaposition between socioeconomic groups.
