Social Studies Expo

On Tuesday morning, GSFS held the annual Social Studies Expo! Students took turns presenting on what they learned this year and visiting other class's tables and activities.
  • Roe's Pre-Kindergarten dressed up as historical figures and provided clues as to their identities
  • Kathie's Pre-Kindergarten students each made one place that is important to a community, including a dentist, a hair salon, and a store that sells pretzels
  • Both Kindergarten classes created a matching game for ways that people can help building community from volunteering to watering trees
  • The 1st grade quizzed visitors on trivia about the seven continents
  • 2nd grade students shared what they learned this year about Alaska, the Iditarod, Native Americans, and totem poles
  • The 3rd grade created an interactive museum about the Underground Railroad and the differences between freedom seekers and abolitionists
  • 4E made a guessing game based on characters from Greek mythology
  • 4M explained different forms of government in Ancient Greece, including democracy, oligarphy, and monarchy
  • The 5th grade showcased Sumerian inventions and taught visitors how to write in cuneiform
  • 6th grade classes build a shantytown
  • The 7th grade shared their experiences in Costa Rica
  • 8th grade students created a board game called "Stock Market" to simulate the crash in 1929.
