Assessment for Inclusivity and Multiculturalism (AIM)




On Monday, October 20, Greene Street Friends School is excited to launch the Assessment for Inclusivity and Multiculturalism (AIM) Online Climate Survey


Developed by the NAtional Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the AIM Online Climate Survey has been used to help independent schools gather feedback about how to strengthen and engages a diverse and inclusive school communities. The result of this online survey will inform our action steps over the next three years and our ongoing commitment to educating students who are changemakers and seekers of knowledge, equity, and social justice. 


The AIM survey is only given once every three years, and this is the second time that GSFS has participated in the survey process. Given our current political and social climate and the attacks on DEI, your voice is urgently needed as chart our path forward.


Who should take this survey?

Current GSFS students (ages 9+, see details below), Trustees (current and/or served within the last three years), Current administrators, Current faculty, Current staff, Current parents/caregivers, and All alumni!


    How can I fill out the survey?

    All GSFS community members will receive a link to the survey in their email on Monday, October 20. If you do not receive this email, please reach out to Tricia (tebarvia@greenestreetfriends.org).

    How long does the survey take?

    The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete; however, you are able to save your progress while taking your survey and come back!

    How long do I have to complete the survey?

    The survey will open on Monday, October 20, and close at 11:59 PM on Monday, November 3rd. 


Please note:


  • Each individual parent/caregiver is invited to complete the surveyIf there are multiple parents/caregivers in one or more households, each person should submit a separate survey.
  • You may save your progress while taking the survey and come back.
  • Students ages 9+ will be invited to take the AIM survey during school. A separate specially designed Younger Student Survey will be offered for students ages 9 to 11 (learn more about how this younger student survey was developed HERE). Students ages 12+ will take the standard survey.
  • If you would like to opt-out your child(ren) from taking the survey, please complete THIS FORM by October 24. 


All responses to the survey are strictly confidential and anonymous. 


Individual responses are not provided to the school and results by demographic category are not reported unless there are at least ten (10) people who respond within a particular demographic profile. NAIS only provides summary reports to the school along with any written comments provided by respondents. No personally identifiable information is collected from this survey

HELPFUL HINTS

As you progress through the survey, please note: 

  • The survey can be completed on a laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone device. It is best suited to Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari browsers.
  • You must complete all of the required questions in order to advance through the evaluation. Required questions are marked with a red asterisk.
  • As you move from page to page in the evaluation, please use the Back and Next buttons at the bottom of each survey page.
  • The system will record your response as you advance through the questions. You can leave the survey at any time, and return later to resume your response. Simply click Save and Resume Later. The system will generate a URL for you to use in returning to the point where you left off and continuing your entry. You can choose to copy that URL and save it, or to have the system e-mail the URL to you.
