The Costa Rica Exchange Program includes a pen-pal exchange program with Costa Rican students starting in the fall of 2015, which leads into an 11-day traveling experience in the spring of 2016. In 8th grade, the pen pal program formally concludes with a small group of Costa Rican students visiting GSFS for two weeks. The experience integrates the study of Spanish with other curricular areas in our school. Travel to another country gives students deeper exposure to another language and culture, and they ultimately learn more about the world and themselves.
We recognize that for this experience to go forward, we need your support. At this meeting, we plan to share with you exciting and important details about this incredible opportunity for your children and family. Joining us will be Sandra Rodriguez, the director and founder of the Costa Rica Exchange Program at Greene Street Friends School, as well as Maani Waldor and Ilana Goldfus from the Development Office, who will work closely with you on the fundraising efforts for this wonderful program.
Please note that it is required for every 6th grade family to send at least one parent, guardian, or representative to this meeting. The Costa Rica program is a core part of the 7th and 8th grade curriculum, and the information we share at this meeting will set us all up for a smooth and successful program. Please let Sandra know in advance if you have any questions via email at srodriguez@greenestreetfriends.org
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00pm!
