Dear GSFS Families,
Welcome fellow Hawk families. I am honored to be the President of the Parent Association (PA) and I welcome the opportunity to serve for the 2019-2020 academic year. Our Parent Association team is awesome and we look forward to reconnecting with returning families, engaging with staff and welcoming new families.
The PA plays a significant role in our GSFS community by helping parents stay connected and informed. We embrace a reciprocal relationship with the school where parents support the school and the school provides a vibrant and nurturing educational environment for our kiddos. The PA sponsors meetings and events throughout the year, such as the beginning of the year BBQ, Staff Appreciation Day and MLK Day of Service to name a few. Please join us for the first meeting of the year on September 10th at 5:30PM to find out how you can help. There will be many opportunities that suit your interests and schedule. We welcome your energy, talents, and contributions.
In addition, the Parents Association Committee for Advancing Racial Equity in Our School (P.A. CARES) supports GSFS families to promote the positive racial identity of our children and to develop skills to recognize and counter structural racism, unintentional racism, and micro aggressions, and to undo white supremacy. PA CARES will organize programming throughout the year, with the first event at the PA meeting also on September 10th. I hope you will join us for some or all of these critical and needed discussions.
Please feel free to reach out to the Parent Association at firstname.lastname@example.org. I wish you and your family a wonderful school year!
